Foundation Stone laying Cermony of Punjab Judicial Academy at Kala Shah Kaku

LHC Chief Justice, Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry addressed the lawyers and judicial officers after laying the foundation stone of the Punjab Judicial Academy at Kala Shah Kaku.

He said that judges should provide justice on equal basis at all cost without any fear and greed. He said that their friendships and relationships should not become hurdle inĀ  protecting the rights of the poor and downtrodden.

He added that judges should fear only the Almighty Allah as they will be accountable on the Day of Judgment. He said that the court has to award sentence to the accused on the basis of concrete evidence and that it is a matter of consideration as to why a large number of people escape punishment. He added that there should be a conference at the provincial and federal level in this regard and the reasons should be ascertained. He said that the foreign countries pay special attention to these matters but we did not care for it.

While appreciating the services of the Punjab Judicial Academy, Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry said that besides awareness regarding law matters, special attention is also paid to the character building of the participants. He commented that besides judicial officers, public prosecutors and superintendents of prisons are being imparted training in the Judicial Academy whereas investigation officers and administrative officers would get training in the Kala Shah Kaku academy.

The Chief Justice said that at present the Federal Judicial Academy and academies in the other three provinces are rendering valuable services whereas a judicial academy would soon be set up in Balochistan. He said that the Federal Judicial Academy has been made a center of excellence and now the Punjab Judicial Academy will also be made a center of excellence.

The Director General of the Academy, Justice (R) Tanvir Ahmed Khan informed that 50 acres of land has been acquired with the assistance of the Punjab government. He said that the boundary wall has been completed whereas residences, health facilities, mosque, gymnasium and playgrounds would also be provided to the judicial officers under training.
