Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, addressed the inaugural ceremony of the 12-week training course for newly recruited judicial officers in the provincial subordinate judiciary held at the Punjab Judicial Academy.
During the ceremony he asked the newly inducted civil judges to dispense justice to the masses keeping fear of Allah in their hearts and decide cases irrespective of possible anger from any party except anger of our creator. He said on the Day of Judgment ‘rulers’ and ‘jurists’ will appear first before the court of Allah Almighty and they will be awarded maximum punishment for doing injustice. The CJ instructed the judges, “Through your sincere performance, a message should be given to the public that this judiciary is better than the old one. He cautioned, “To err is human, but element of malafidy in a mistake cannot be tolerated.”
Justice Sharif said the salaries and other benefits of judicial officers had been enhanced remarkably and now judges had no reason to look for unfair means. The CJ pointed out that the judges of High Court were performing duties till late night for giving prompt justice to the people and the judges of the subordinate judiciary should also follow their precedent. He further advised them to treat litigants and lawyers in an honourable manner and avoid wasting time by sitting in chambers.
He lauded the functioning of Punjab Judicial Academy saying that it was the best training institute for new entrants.
LHC judge, Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, Honorary Consultant of the Judicial Academy, Justice (R) Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan and Director General of the academy, Justice (R) Tanvir Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion.
