The Chief Minister addresses Public Prosecutors at PJA

The Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif addressed public prosecutors who have completed their training at a ceremony held at the Punjab Judicial Academy.

While addressing the group he said that no society can flourish without justice and only those nations progress which ensure supremacy of law and justice. He said that living nations face all challenges with courage and determination. He added that there is a need for adopting the principles of honesty and hard work for transforming Pakistan into a welfare state in accordance with the ideas of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He announced setting up of an academy for the training of public prosecutors and a digital library and said that the government will bear all expenses on their training abroad and that  the prosecutors will be selected for this purpose on merit,  

The Chief Minister said restoration of an independent judiciary in the country on March 16, 2009 has given new hope to the masses and the independent judiciary will come to the expectations of the masses which will result in enhancing the confidence of the public in the judiciary. He added that the politicians, judiciary, police, prosecutors along with each and every component of the government machinery will have to play their due role for the provision of justice to masses and if we showed negligence in this regard, the nation will not forgive us.

He said that police, public prosecutors and judiciary play an important role for provision of justice to the common man, upholding the law and dealing with criminals. He hoped that the public prosecutors under the leadership of the Secretary Prosecution Department,Punjab will play an  active role for the provision of justice to the people. He said that public prosecutors are associated with an important profession and if they discharge their obligations with honesty and dedication, they will be successful both in the present and after world. He said that Punjab Government will extend all kind of financial and administrative support to the prosecutors with regard to discharging their responsibilities and training when the recommendations submitted by the committee headed by Provincial Minister for Law, Rana Sanaullah Khan are received.

While addressing the ceremony, Secretary Public Prosecution Department Punjab, Rana Maqbool Ahmed said that the Chief Minister is leading the caravan which is struggling to provide justice to the poor. He said that an honest prosecutor is not less than a Mujahid as he supports the orphans, widows and oppressed persons by standing with them in the courts. The Prosecutor General Punjab, Syed Zahid Hussain Bokhari pointed out the problems being faced by the prosecution department while the Director General of the Punjab Judicial Academy, Justice (R) Tanvir Ahmed Khan briefed about the training courses of the academy.

Director United States Justice Department, Ms Natasha said that the department had been imparting training to the prosecutors for the last 125 years and cooperation to the Punjab government will also be extended in future in this regard.
