The Punjab Judicial Academy in collaboration with English Language Center, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan organized a Half Day Seminar on "Legal English for Judge: New Dimensions" at BZU. Dr. Naveed Ch., Prof of English and a PhD in Legal English was lead speaker. Syed Khurshid Anwar Rizvi, Director-General PJA also made a presentation on "Significance of English in Judgment Writing". Participants were distributed the Seminar literature (manual for future record) Hon'ble Mr Justice Shah Khawar was the Chief Guest.
The participants, 30 judicial officers from Multan, attended the Seminar with great enthusiasm and the sessions were highly interactive and continued with Q&A during the sessions. Learned DSJ Multan Mr Bahadur Ali Khan appreciated the activity and learning outcomes in terms that the Seminar has made the participants to learn that the judicial officer now can write judgments with more clarity using plain English and writing with brevity and avoiding unnecessary words.
Hon'ble Mr Justice Shah Khawar, Judge Lahore High Court (presently at Multan Bench) has been pleased to appreciate the Seminar in terms that such like seminars on social context topics are need of the day. His lordship was pleased to ask the Academy to organize more of such like activities for judiciary in Punjab.
