A solemn oath-taking ceremony was held today at the auditorium of the Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, for 33 newly appointed Civil Judges/Magistrates. The Chief Guest at the event was the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Madam Justice Aalia Neelum. She was accompanied by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh, Member of the Administration Committee of the Lahore High Court, who was also present on this significant occasion.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by the Hon’ble Director General of the Punjab Judicial Academy, Mr. Justice (R) Sardar Ahmad Naeem. In his speech, he congratulated the newly appointed judges and emphasized the vital role of the judiciary in the dispensation of justice and upholding the rule of law. He assured the audience that the Academy remains committed to providing professional training grounded in judicial ethics and integrity.
The oath of office was administered by the Hon’ble Registrar of the Lahore High Court, Mr. Amjad Iqbal Ranjha. Also in attendance were the District & Sessions Judge (HR), Mr. Anwar-ul-Haq; the Director General of the Directorate of District Judiciary, Mr. Ali Zulqarnain Awan; Directors, senior instructors, faculty members of the Academy, and families of the newly appointed judges.
In her keynote address, Madam Justice Aalia Neelum congratulated the new judges and welcomed them to the honorable and sacred office of the judiciary. She highlighted the critical role judges play in maintaining societal balance and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
“The judiciary is the foremost guardian of constitutional rights and civil liberties,” she stated.
“It is imperative that judges perform their duties with integrity, fearlessness, impartiality, and an unwavering commitment to the law.”
The ceremony concluded with a collective resolve that the newly appointed judges would dedicate their abilities to ensuring justice and contributing positively to Pakistan’s judicial system.
Furthermore, the formal training of the newly appointed Civil Judges/Magistrates will commence at the Punjab Judicial Academy from June 12, 2025, where they will be provided with a comprehensive and professional learning environment.
