Completed his LLB with distinction from Punjab University Law College, Lahore, and also earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of the Punjab. He joined the judiciary at the young age of 22, after qualifying the Punjab Public Service Commission examination. He started his judicial career as a Civil Judge in 1982, promoted as Senior Civil Judge and Additional District & Sessions Judge in a row and promoted as District & Sessions Judge in the year 2007.
During his tenure as District & Sessions Judge, Mr. Qureshi served in several districts, including Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Pakpattan, Vehari, Kasur, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Sargodha. He also served in key ex-cadre positions, such as Special Judge (Central) FIA Lahore, Senior Special Judge Anti-Corruption Punjab, Special Judge Anti-Corruption Gujranwala, Judge Labour Court Bahawalpur, and Member Punjab Services Tribunal.
Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi holds the honour of being the first Judicial Officer in Punjab who got Certificate from International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a Master Trainer in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) in 2012. He further advanced his expertise by attending the Trainer of Trainers course in Rome, Italy, in 2017. He has been associated with the Punjab Judicial Academy since 2014 as a Resource Person and has regularly conducted training sessions for judicial officers and Provincial Management Service (PMS) officers as well as in NIPA and various Law Colleges in Punjab.
He played a leading role in the establishment of the first Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Court, Child Court, and Evening Court in Lahore, aimed at improving access to justice for vulnerable segments of society. His performance was recognized with several awards from the Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore.
Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi has contributed scholarly articles to prominent law journals, including PLD and PLJ, and is the author of Adal Beeti, a book that shares his reflections and experiences from his long judicial career. He is also author of book Tajahil Adilana (تجاہل عادلانہ) that mainly contains his columns published in print and social media.
