Concluding Ceremony of 03-Months Pre-Service Training Program – 2024 of Newly Appointed AD&SJs and Civil Judges-cum-Magistrates

The concluding ceremony of the “03-Months Pre-Service Training Program – 2024 for Newly Appointed AD&SJs and Civil Judges-cum-Magistrates” was held at the Punjab Judicial Academy on May 24, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. The event was presided over by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Lahore, and Chairperson of the Board of Management at the Punjab Judicial Academy.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Mr. Abdul Sattar, Director General of PJA, then welcomed the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, and other esteemed guests on behalf of the Punjab Judicial Academy. He shared insights about the training program, highlighting that the participants underwent a rigorous 12-week training from February 28, 2024, to May 25, 2024. During this period, their existing knowledge was tested, and they received extensive training in various legal areas. Eminent resource persons, including retired judges from Superior Courts, retired District & Sessions Judges, and academic experts, delivered lectures and imparted knowledge.

The participants were also attached to the Courts and Research Centre at Lahore High Court, Lahore, to gain practical experience and in-depth understanding of the prevailing legal system.

Following this, Mr. Muhammad Asim Shahzad, AD&SJ, M.B. Din, and Rana Mazhar Ali, Civil Judge, Kasur, shared their experiences, expressing how the training program had equipped them with a comprehensive understanding of their roles as judicial officers.

The training program was meticulously designed to familiarize participants with every aspect of their duties and prepare them for field service. It included lectures, practical assignments, presentations, mock trials, and attachments with District/Civil Courts in Lahore and the Lahore High Court Research Centre. Throughout the training, participants learned discipline, punctuality, time management, and teamwork. Resource persons shared invaluable lifetime experiences, enhancing the trainees' legal and social knowledge. Special lectures on personal grooming further prepared them for public interaction and the demands of modern society.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan then addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of their sacred duty as judges to dispense justice impartially and without fear or favor.

Certificates were awarded to the participants upon successful completion of the training program by the Hon’ble Chair and the Director General of PJA. In recognition of his support, the Director General of the Punjab Judicial Academy presented a souvenir to the Hon’ble Chief Justice. The event concluded with a group photo.
