On May 21, 2024, a visit was organized for the newly appointed 09 Additional District & Sessions Judges (AD&SJs) and 26 Civil Judges-cum-Magistrates to the Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH). The visit took place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. under the supervision of Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Director of Academic/Program, Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA).
The participants departed from the PJA at 9:00 a.m. and arrived at PIMH at 9:20 a.m. Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Dr. Farrukh Abdullah, Executive Director, alongside Dr. Regina Mahmood and Dr. Ayesha Mumtaz, Chief Consultants in the Psychiatry Department. A group photo was taken, followed by a briefing on the history and operations of PIMH by the aforementioned doctors.
During the visit, the participants gained valuable insights into mental health issues, the concept of Mens Rea, and related legal matters. Following a productive question and answer session, the group undertook a comprehensive tour of various sections and departments within PIMH, guided by Dr. Ayesha Mumtaz, Chief Consultant Psychiatrist.
The visit concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Director of Academic/Program, PJA.
