With the kind effort of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Judge Lahore High Court, Lahore, the Punjab Judicial Academy arranged a lecture of Mr. John Cabeca, U.S. Intellectual Property Counsellor for South Asia, on “Intellectual Property Laws” on 30th April, 2024 at 9:00 am.
The session was attended by the trainee Judicial Officers of Pre-Service Training Program 2024 for newly appointed Additional District & Sessions Judges and Civil Judges-cum-Magistrate, Ms. Amna Anis & Ms. Dong Eun, Delegation from U.S. Embassy, Mr. Nasir Mahmood Zahid, Director Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, Directors and Additional Director, PJA.
The session started from the recitation of the Holy Quran, thereafter the Hon’ble Director General, PJA, Mr. Abdul Sattar, welcomed the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Judge of the Lahore High Court, Lahore, Mr. john Cabeca and members of the delegate. In his welcome address, he briefed about the key functions of the Academy and introduced the speaker with the audience.
Mr. John Cabeca, shared his vast experience of dealing with Intellectual Property cases in South Asia in comparison with the Intellectual property laws prevailing in United States. The participants attended the session with keen interest in the subject and asked thought provoking questions. On request by Mr. John Cabeca, Mr. Nasir Mehmood Zahid, IPO Pakistan responded to some of the queries by the participants (pre-service trainee judicial officers) with reference to IP Laws, development and implementation in Pakistan.
Concluding the session, the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Judge Lahore High Court, Lahore expressed gratitude to Mr. John Cabeca, for sparing time from his busy schedule and shared his expertise and knowledge of Intellectual Property Laws, Rules etc. with the pre-service trainee judicial officers at the Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore. His Lordship presented a souvenir to Mr. John Cabeca, on behalf of the Punjab Judicial Academy. The session concluded with the group photo.
