With the approval of Hon’ble Chief Justice Lahore High Court/ Chairperson BoM, Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, the Academy has designed Online Division-Wise Distance Learning Training Session for Judges of the District Courts on General Topics from 13th November, 2023 to 21st February, 2024.
On 13th November, 2023, the training sessions inaugurated with the recitation of Holy Qur’an. In the opening remarks, Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General PJA, shared his views that the Academy has designed this online training program on general topics of utmost importance for capacity building of the Judicial Officers in Punjab. The topics included are Appointment of Receiver: Conditions, Requirements and Precautions, Senior Civil Judge as a Linchpin in the System, Cases relating to Gender Based Violence, Rights of Overseas Pakistanis: Legal Framework and Responsibility of the Courts, Courts Inspection – Maintenance of Registers as per High Court Rules, Preference of Cases wherein fixed limit of disposal is provided in Law: How to Expedite the Process, Exposure about Judicial Order and Executive Order, Discharge and Acquittal, Admissibility of Statement u/s 164 Cr.PC and Procedure of Identification Parade, An Overview of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) - its Application in Litigation before Courts with reference to latest Amendments and English Language – Communication & Writing Skills.
Mr. Muhammad Iram Ayaz, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, in his inaugural address gave an overview of the program and emphasized that the objectives of the training sessions are to further enhance the judicial and professional skills of the Judges, therefore, it is so important to remain engaged and actively participate in the webinar sessions.
The subject of inaugural training session was “Appointment of Receiver: Conditions, Requirements and Precautions” addressed by Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi, District & Sessions Judge (R), started from 11:15 a.m. and concluded at 12:30 p.m., attended by Judges from Bahawalpur and D.G. On Tuesday, 14th November, 2023, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, District & Sessions Judge (Rtd.) conducted a webinar session for the Senior Civil Judges from Faisalabad & Gujranwala Divisions on the topic “Senior Civil Judge as a Linchpin in the System”. The learned Resource Person highlighted key role and responsibilities of Senior Civil Judges to effectively run the affairs of District Courts. On conclusion of the session, the learned resource person answered different questions asked by the participants. Click for pictures.
On Wednesday, 15th November, 2023, from 11:15 – 12:30 p.m.
Ms. Sumaira Samad, Secretary Punjab Women Development Department, Lahore, conducted webinar session for the Judges from Gujrat & Lahore Divisions on the topic “Cases relating to Gender Based Violence”. She sensitized the Judges on the gender based violence and issues faced by the vulnerable segments of the society. Ms. Sumaira Samad also discussed with the participant Judges that how Courts can play an effective role in such gender based violence cases. On conclusion of the session, learned Resource Person answered different questions asked by the participants. Click for pictures.
On Thursday, 16th November, 2023, Ms. Mahnoor Kazmi, Legal Consultant, conducted the webinar session for the Judges from Multan & Rawalpindi Divisions on the topic “Rights of Overseas Pakistanis: Legal Framework and Responsibility of the Courts”. During the webinar, learned Resource Person discussed the relevant legal framework, recent legislative developments and sensitized the participants on the issues being faced by the overseas Pakistan. The participants asked different questions at the end of the session and also thanked the learned resource person for her experiential sharing. Click for pictures.
