A delegation of trainees (Assistant Superintendent Prison, Punjab, KPK & Sindh) of “Diploma in Parole & Probation” along with Shahzad Aftab, DDS Coordination & Operations / Group Leader from National Academy for Prisons Administration (NAPA), Lahore visited the Punjab Judicial Academy on 14 June 2023. The purpose of this visit was to discuss “the role of judiciary in community based restitution & rehabilitation of prisons”. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General PJA and learned Directors of the Academy.
The worthy Registrar Lahore High Court, Lahore Mr. Irfan Ahmad Saeed graced the discussion as chief guest. He addressed the delegation and expressed his thoughts on the role of judiciary as a community service based restitution and rehabilitation of prisons in the centers. He also shared his experiences while he visited the prison departments during service as District & Sessions Judge.
Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Trainings (Distance Learning), gave briefing about functions, training methodology, structure, and activities of the Academy. Further, he elaborated number of training sessions, conferences, seminars conducted in previous years. Moreover, the future plans of the PJA and lastly about under construction Punjab Judicial Academy at Kala Shah Kaku, a project equipped with all latest facilities i.e. lecture rooms, auditorium, hostel, mess, webinar studio and sports facilities.
During the interactive session with the members of the delegation, Hon’ble Director General PJA highlighted the future plans of the Academy and offered collaboration with the NAPA at all academic levels. The members of the delegation thanked the Hon’ble Director General for the generous offer and all the arrangements made by the Academy for their visit.
After formal discussion, Mr. Ashtar Abbas, the worthy Director General PJA, presented souvenirs to NAPA representative, thereafter, Mr. Shahzad, group leader NAPA delegation presented shields to Mr. Irfan Ahmad Saeed, worthy Registrar Lahore high Court, Lahore and Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General, PJA on behalf of NAPA.
The visit concluded with refreshment and a group photo.
