With the approval of Hon’ble Chief Justice Lahore High Court/ Chairperson BoM, Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, the Academy conducted Webinar on Implementation of Legal Framework of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) in District Lahore from 16th to 25th January, 2023.
The training sessions inaugurated with the recitation of Holy Qur’an. In the opening remarks, Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General PJA, said that the purpose of said webinar training sessions is to sensitize the Judicial Officers about concept and law relating to ADR and to enhance knowledge, capacity and skills in referral of the cases for resolution through ADR.
Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, in his inaugural address gave an overview of the program and emphasized that the said training sessions have been arranged on the special directions of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf, Member, ADR Committee Supreme Court of Pakistan, to enhance the judicial and professional skills of the Judges for successful implementation of legal framework of ADR in District Lahore, therefore, it is so important to remain engaged and actively participate in the webinar sessions.
The webinar training program consisted of six sessions, covering ADR related topics such as Understanding the concept of Accredited ADR Service Provider and ADR Center – Role and Importance in ADR Proceedings, An overview and implementation of Alternate Dispute Resolution Act, 2019 (ADR Act, 2019) and Alternate Dispute Resolution Rules, 2020, Alternate Dispute Resolution: Basic Concept as a Tool to Resolve Disputes, Concept of Outside Court Settlement in other Countries, Referring Civil Disputes for ADR under the ADR Act, 2019: Problems and Solutions, Referring Criminal Disputes for ADR under the ADR Act, 2019: Problems and Solutions and How to Successfully Implement ADR Act, 2019 in Lahore – Role of Courts and other Stakeholders.
