Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors

With the approval of Hon’ble Chief Justice Lahore High Court/ Chairperson BoM, Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, the Academy has designed Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors from 23rd June to 28th July, 2022.

The training sessions inaugurated with the recitation of Holy Qur’an. In the opening remarks, Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General PJA, said that children are future of the society and it is collective duty of the society overall and courts in particular to protect the rights of minors and provide an environment that is, by all means, beneficial for their healthy brought up so they could serve the nation in future. He further reiterated that the Punjab Judicial Academy is mandated to enhance the capacity and skills of Courts dealing with cases relating to children/minors. Online webinar sessions has provided an opportunity to conduct training program for such Courts across Punjab in a hassle-free manner without requiring them to leave their place of postings.

Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, in his inaugural address gave an overview of the program and emphasized that the objectives of the training session are to sensitize the Judges about the importance of long-lasting effects of minor’s rights to be protected through the judicial proceedings

The subject of inaugural training session was “Child: Legal Definition and Rights – Public Awareness in this regard” addressed by Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi, District & Sessions Judge (R), started from 01:45 p.m. and concluded at 03:00 p.m. See Pictures

In Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, District & Sessions Judge (R), conducted a webinar session on the topic “Basic Concept of Welfare of the Minor and its paramount importance” on 28th June, 2022 from

01:45 – 03:00 p.m. During the session, learned resource person emphasized the participants that while dealing with the cases relating to children/minors, welfare of the minors should have been the priority. He shared basic idea/concept of welfare of the minors and its long-lasting effects on the society. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person. On 29th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m., Mr. Sohaib Ahmad Rumi, District & Sessions Judge (R), shared his experiences through webinar session on the topic “Matrimonial disputes and effects on the children as well as society overall” in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors. The learned resource person highlighted how matrimonial disputes psychologically and mentally effects the children and then ultimately effects the whole society at large. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person. Syed Nasir Ali Shah, District & Sessions Judge (R), conducted a webinar session on the topic “Rights of the minor under the Guardian and Wards Act, 1890 and Family Law” on 30th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors. During the webinar session, participants were sensitized on role of Courts in securing rights of the minors and also highlighted the issues, legal procedure and directions of the superior courts relating to the guardianship of the minors. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person. The learned resource person answered the questions and also appreciated the focus and interest of the participants. Ms. Mahnoor Kazmi, Visiting Faculty Member/ Quaid-e-Azam Law College & P.U Law College, Lahore, conducted a webinar session on the topic “State’s responsibility with reference to protection of minors, i.e. healthcare, education, protection and proper brought up” on 05th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors. Learned resource person sensitized the participants on legal and ethical rights of children i.e. healthcare, education, protection, proper brought-up and responsibility of the State in connection thereto. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person and asked different questions relating to the topic. On 06th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m., Dr. Nazish Imran Haider, HoD Children Psychiatric Dept. Mayo Hospital, Lahore, shared her experiences through webinar session on the topic “Health and Mental Problems of Child: Responsibility there-against and remedies” in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors. The participants were of the view that this specialized topic has highlighted important aspects of children health and mental problems that have not been discussed earlier. The learned resource person emphasized how different events effects the mental and physical health of children and what we can do to protect children from such problems and its remedies medically. The Senior Doctor also expressed gratitude for inviting her for this session by PJA. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person. In Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, Mr. Javed Rasheed Mahboobi, District & Sessions Judge (R), conducted a webinar session on the topic “Guardianship and Hazanat” on 07th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. During the session, learned resource person emphasized the participants that while dealing with the guardianship and hazanat cases, welfare of the minors should have been the priority. He shared different legal provisions and case law on the topic. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person. In Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, Hon’ble Mr. Justice (R) Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa was pleased to conducted a webinar session on the topic “Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018: Its effects and responsibility of the State” on 19th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. During the session, Hon’ble resource person emphasized the participants to observe special care while dealing with cases relating to juvenile. His lordship shared different legal provisions and case law on the topic. At the end of the session, the participants thanked Hon’ble Mr. Justice (R) Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa for experiential sharing and guidance. See Pictures

Syed Ijaz Qutab, Advocate conducted a webinar session on the topic “Responsibility of parents and other relatives about minors, social norms, discussion on this concept” in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, on 20th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. The learned resource person highlighted role and responsibilities of family members in proper upbringing of children and emphasized on role of courts to secure rights of the children in society. On 21st July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m, Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, conducted a webinar session on the topic “Custody of minors and concept of visitation rights of non-custodian parents” in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors. The learned resource person highlighted the importance of love, affection and company of both parents for a child and vitality of visitation rights of non-custodian parents. In Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, Dr. Syed Imran Murtaza, MS Fountain House, Lahore, conducted a webinar session on the topic “Proper and positive brought up of minor, its effects on the future of the nation/society” on 26th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. During the session, learned resource person discussed psychological and emotional effects of environment on children and how this bring positive or negative change in child’s life. Ms. Shahida Saeed, District & Sessions Judge, Sheikhupura, conducted a webinar session on the topic “Destitute and neglected child – state responsibilities” in Distance Learning Training Sessions through Webinar on Legal, Moral and Ethical Rights of Children/Minors, on 27th July, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. In this session, rights of destitute and neglected children and responsibility of the state in this regard was discussed.
