Webinar Training Program for Special Courts

With the approval of Hon’ble Chief Justice Lahore High Court/ Chairperson BoM, Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, the Academy has designed Distance Learning Training Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab through Webinar from 23rd May to 27th June, 2022.

The training sessions inaugurated with the recitation of Holy Qur’an. In the opening remarks, Mr. Ashtar Abbas, Acting Director General PJA, said that the Special Courts are an integral part of our justice system and Special Courts Judges must be provided all the necessary training to enhance their capacity and skills. Online webinar sessions has provided us an opportunity to conduct training program for Special Courts Judges across Punjab in a hassle-free manner without requiring them to leave their place of postings.

Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, in his inaugural address gave an overview of the program and emphasized that the objectives of the training session are to develop skills and techniques of Special Court Judges to enhance quality and quantity of decisions/disposal of the cases. The importance of judicial work performed by these Courts cannot be under-estimated or overlooked.

The subject of inaugural training session was “History of Banking Laws – Effects of Judgments/Orders of Banking Court on Financial Sectors” addressed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice (R) Rauf A. Sheikh, started from 01:45 p.m. and concluded at 03:00 p.m. See pictures.

In Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab Ms. Mahnoor Kazmi, Advocate High Court, conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Banking Courts, Labour Courts and Consumer Courts on the topic “Alternate Dispute Resolution, its application in litigation before Special Courts” on 25th May, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. On conclusion of the session, the learned resource person answered different questions of the participants. See pictures.

On 30th May, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m., Mr. Arshad Chaudhry, District & Sessions Judge (R), conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Courts Qua Offences in Banks, on the topic “Jurisdiction, Law & Procedure of Courts qua Offences in Banks” in Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab. The participants asked different questions at the end of the session. See pictures.

Mr. Sohaib Ahmad Rumi, District & Sessions Judge (R), conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Courts Qua Offences in Banks, Accountability Courts, Anti-Corruption Courts & Special Courts (Central), Special Courts (Control of Narcotics Substances), Special Courts (Custom, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling), and Anti-Terrorism Courts, on the topic “Stress Management & Emotional Intelligence” on 01st June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. in Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab. On conclusion of the session, the learned resource person answered different questions of the participants. See pictures.

In Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab, Mr. Muhammad Akmal Khan, District & Sessions Judge, Multan, conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Accountability Courts on the topic “Basic Concept of Accountability, relevant Law and Procedure” on 06th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. On conclusion of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person and asked different questions relating to the topic. Mr. Muhammad Akmal Khan answered the questions and also appreciated the focus and interest of the participants. See pictures.

Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi, District & Sessions Judge (R) conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Anti-Corruption Courts & Special Courts (Central) on the topic “Corruption, its effects and modes to eliminate by the Courts: Law & Procedure” in Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab on 08th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. At the end of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person and asked different questions relating to the topic. Mr. Abid Hussain Qureshi answered the questions and also appreciated the focus and interest of the participants. The learned resource person highlighted how corruption is causing damage to the society and what role courts can play to curb this evil effectively.  See pictures.

In Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab, Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Special Courts (Control of Narcotics Substances) on the topic “Narcotics Substances, Drugs & Pharmaceutics Substance: Its effects on the Society and Role of Special Courts to control – Law & Procedure” on 13th June, 2022 from

01:45 – 03:00 p.m. On conclusion of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person and asked different questions relating to the topic.

Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad answered the questions and also appreciated the focus and interest of the participants. The learned Judges expressed that they do understand the gravity of use of narcotics which is spreading amongst the young generation and that they must exercise jurisdiction in more meaningful way.  See pictures.

On 15th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m, Ms. Bushra Zaman, Director Research & Publication, PJA, conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Special Courts (Custom, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling) in Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab, on the topic “Overview of Law and Procedure followed by Special Courts (Customers, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling) Punjab and punishments provided thereunder Section 156 (one of the Customs Act, 1969)”. At the end of the webinar sessions, the learned resource person answered different questions asked by the participants.

Ms. Bushra Zaman appreciated the focus and interest of the participants who requested that further sessions may be arranged for discussion about Taxation matters/ laws.  See pictures.

On 22nd June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m, Mian Ghulam Hussain, D&SJ(R), conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Labour Courts in Online Webinar Sessions for Special Courts Judges in Punjab, on the topic “Role of Courts in relation of Industrial Labour – its economic and social effects”. At the end of the webinar sessions, the learned resource person answered different questions asked by the participants and appreciated the focus and interest of the participants who requested that further sessions may be arranged for discussion about Labour Laws. Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning) PJA, conducted a webinar session for the Judges of Consumer Courts on the topic “Concept, Purpose and Function of Consumer Courts – Receipt of Complaint and Procedure under The Punjab Consumers Protection Act, 2005” on 27th June, 2022 from 01:45 – 03:00 p.m. On conclusion of the session, the participants thanked the learned resource person and expressed that such training sessions help to enhance their capacity and performance.
