Training of Judicial Officers (AD&SJs) on Essential Services Package, Guidelines for the Victims and Survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV)

The first group of three days (24th – 26th May, 2022) training program of judicial officers on essential services packages, guidelines for the victims and Survivors of Gender Based  Violence (GBV) commenced today in the Punjab Judicial Academy. The said training program is being organized by UNODC with the collaboration of Punjab Judicial Academy. Additional District & Sessions Judges fifteen in number from different districts of Punjab are participating.

The inaugural ceremony of said training program was presided over by Mr. Ashtar Abass, the acting Director General, Punjab Judicial Academy and attended by Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training (Distance Learning), Ch. Muhammad Siddique, Director Program, Ms. Bushra Zaman, Director Research & Publications, Officers of the Academy and representatives of UNDOC.

Day one comprised of different sessions including introduction of UNODC country office Pakistan (UNODC COPAK) and Essential Service Package (ESP) and its Framework. 2nd session was on unpacking gender constructs: enhancing understanding of gender concepts (Barriers to Justice, Input plus exercise and access to justice, Justice Chain Analysis, Gender Blind, Gender Sensitivity) followed by exercise on myths and stereotypes within the justice chain analysis. In the latter half of the day, Mr. Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Training, PJA conducted the session on Gender Sensitivity in Islamic Perspective. In the last session, Mr. Shahid Shafique, Senior Faculty Member, SJA, conducted the discussion session on how to improve cooperation and coordination among stakeholders in GBV Cases.

 Today’s activities end at around 4.00 pm.
