A three-member delegation comprising of Ms. Jayne A Howell, Minister-Counselor for Consular Affairs, Mr. Justin H. Allen, Consular Officer, and Mr. Abdul Waheed Khan, Supervisory Consular from American Citizen Services Unit, USA visited Punjab Judicial Academy on Nov 06, 2023.
The delegation was received by Mr. Saboor Ahmad Khan, Addl. Director. Thereafter, formal meeting was convened in the committee room of PJA. Mr. Ashtar Abbas Acting Director General PJA along with Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Director Program, Ms. Bushra Zaman, Director R&P, Mr. Iram Ayyaz, Director Training (Distance Learning), Mr. Saboor Ahmad Khan, Addl. Director and Dr. Imran M. Rabbani, Instructor IT PJA attended the meeting.
Ms. Bushra Zaman, Director R&P briefed the delegation about the operations of the Academy. The delegation showed keen interest in the functions of the Academy and appreciated its efforts.
Ms. Jayne A Howell briefed regarding the standard operating procedures on the Hague Convention and shared her thoughts pertaining to processing of potential cases under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
The Acting DG, PJA while discussing the SOPs of Hague Convention for Child Abduction, pointed out that its implementation needs to be channelized as per The Hague Convention agreement through competent authority. He said, as the Pakistan is a signatory to The Hague Convention and is already following the SOPs, however for more effective implementation, better / effective communication needs to be established between the stakeholders.
The meeting was held in a very cordial and conducive environment discussing various aspects of The Hague Convention and judicial system in Pakistan.
Concluding the meeting, Ms. Howell thanked the Acting DG for taking out time for the meeting. Thereafter a group photograph was taken and meeting ended on unanimous decision to collaborate in future and meet frequently.
